People Who Help Us

This term our topic is all about 'People Who Help Us', with a focus on the emergency services. I've gone to town, as usual, with the role-play!

Inside the classroom we have 3 different role play areas-

1- Vets

The entrance

The reception desk with till, appointment sheets & appointment reminder slips

The pet cages

The surgeons table with light box, x-ray machine

The waiting room

Activities to complete while waiting- drawing and colouring animal pictures- from Twinkl

2- Hospital

The hanging A3 sign made using images from Google

The outside of the hospital with child sized characters blown up to poster size on a colour photocopier

The doctors desk/bed with a chalkboard for appointments and patient notes

The reception area with telephone & appointment book

The house fridge re-purposed as a medicine and supplies cupboard

3- Opticians

A simple cupboard with glasses frames, sunglasses from Primark with lens' removed, on display

IKEA 'eye' test' board & poundshop mirror

All of these role-play areas are fairly simple but with a little bit of modelling, by the adults in the classroom, they have created great enjoyment and have been well used for a few weeks.
